It really depends on how much of a priority your entertainment is to you. The further out you book, the more we can guarantee availability, so if entertainment is a high priority, book at least a year to a year and a half out. If it’s less of a priority, less than a year is usually fine, as long as you’re okay with having last pick among available vendors. Cooler months in Southern Arizona book out first, so a prime Saturday in October is going to be tight if you’re coming to me six months out. That said, communication matters more than the calendar. I’ve had very successful events booked just a few months out because the couple was available to communicate and willing to move through a still-thorough, expedited version of the process. And I’ve seen a year of lead time not work out because communication was slow. Less than six weeks out, I’m honestly not going to be able to give you my best work, and at that point I’ll usually refer you to an associate DJ instead, so you’re not paying my rates for less than my best.

Availability is always limited, so I’ll check my calendar first, but beyond that, it’s just as important that we’re the right fit for each other. Where you’re getting married, the working conditions, and a few other specifics factor in too. There are times I’ll pass on an event even with an open date, if I don’t think I can produce a great result there.

Absolutely not, for my own full-service work. I don’t have the bandwidth to give more than one wedding my personal touch on the same day, and every wedding I DJ gets that touch. The one exception: I do have associate DJs. If I already have a full-service wedding booked and a couple with much lower needs comes along for that same date, I can send an associate to take care of them. But as far as my full attention goes, there’s no such thing as more than one wedding a day.

Pretty much anytime but summer. Between corporate events and weddings, the busy season runs September through April or May, then slows down a lot in June, July, and August because of the heat.

Yes, up to about a year and a half out. Beyond that gets tricky because pricing and services change over time, and I don’t want to lock in something that could be outdated by the time your event comes around.

In some cases, yes, if it’s a good fit.

I’ll work with you as best I can. If the new date you want is open on my calendar, we can usually move to it. If it’s not open, there’s not a lot I can do, but I’m always willing to make the change as long as I’m available.

The range out there is broad. DJs charging under $1,000 are typically doing this part-time or are just getting started. That’s a different business model than mine. Most full-time professionals start somewhere in the $1,500 to $2,500 range, with a few starting around $3,000. I start at $3,495, and that’s mostly covering talent, guidance, and creative services. It does also include a clean and professional looking setup for your reception. My price reflects what it actually takes, in time and effort, for me to give an event my best work.

A contract is required for every event, to protect both of us. My base package starts at $3,495.

Lighting (including uplighting and a disco ball), photo booth, and cold sparks are all enhancements on top of the base package. None of them are required, and you don’t have to decide on any of them upfront.

If I’m available for it, I usually don’t charge overtime. The day-of event might be an eight to ten hour day for me, but the real scope of work I put into a wedding, direct communication, programming, everything behind the scenes, usually runs 50 to 60 hours total. At that scale, an extra hour or two is a small difference, and I don’t like the alternative: telling a couple that pushing to 11pm instead of 10pm is going to cost them more. That takes the fun out of the moment for them, and I don’t want to be the reason for that.

I provide professional microphones, speakers, and mixers for every phase of the day: clean, crisp ceremony sound, cocktail hour and dinner music at a level that doesn’t drown out conversation, and a full professional-grade sound system for the party itself, plus a broad range of lighting to bring energy to the dance floor. Yes, I bring backup equipment.

Both, plus cocktail hour. I’m with you from the moment guests are seated through the last song, sound for the ceremony, music through cocktail hour and dinner, and the full reception.

That’s absolutely okay. Either way, I’ll be set up and fully ready before your event starts. I don’t think it looks good for your guests to see a DJ arriving to set up in the middle of dinner just because he wasn’t needed until later. So by the time your guests walk into the room, whether I’m covering the full day or just part of it, they’ll see a completely ready setup.

Both, depending on what the moment calls for. The goal is always to get the most out of a moment without overdoing it, sometimes that’s background, sometimes it’s spotlight, sometimes it’s a mix. I believe less is more, and though I’m very comfortable on the mic and can use it effectively, I don’t believe anyone wants to hear a DJ talking all night long.

If you book our full-service package, you’re getting me, personally, from the planning meetings through the reception. The only time an associate DJ is involved is in two specific situations: a booking that comes in with less than six weeks of lead time, where I know I can’t give it my full process, or a couple with much lighter needs whose date happens to already be taken by one of my full-service weddings. In both cases, I’d rather send you to an associate at the right price for that scope of work than have you pay my rate and not get my best.

I’d be lying if I said never, but I really try not to, because by the time I’m locked into reading the dance floor, I’m usually already a song or two ahead in my head based on how the crowd is responding. I do have an assistant who fields requests in real time, but they hold onto them rather than passing them to me immediately, then gives them to me in order when I ask. Handing me a request in the moment breaks my flow, so we built the process to avoid that.

It’s a comprehensive, personal approach to your day. I get to know a couple: what makes them function, what they love about life, how they see the world, and then I use the music programming to build a soundtrack to the day that feels like a perfectly orchestrated film, not just a playlist.

Most commonly 120 to 180 guests, though I’m just as comfortable with a more intimate wedding or a larger reception.

Absolutely. I’ve DJed weddings across a wide range of cultures and traditions, and LGBTQ+ couples are always welcome here. I believe in love in all its forms, and in celebrating it fully. What that celebration looks like is going to be different every time, and that’s the beauty of it.

Rather than hand you a list, I usually show couples photos and videos of what different setups actually look like, and base the recommendation on what experience they’re going for. We offer some of the most exciting lighting available in the mobile DJ world, true festival-style dance floor lighting, gobo and monogram projections, accent lighting, and wash lighting, but I’m not going to talk a couple into a top-tier lighting package if their reception space isn’t going to let them enjoy it. Full-room uplighting starts at $495.

Usually, yes, with the right planning. Cold sparks can ignite certain materials if they’re placed too close, things like tulle or dry floral arrangements, so I plan machine placement in advance to keep them away from anything genuinely flammable. They won’t catch a sheet of paper or a piece of wood on fire, it takes something closer to actual kindling. I have up to 10 units available (battery-powered too), where most DJs offer two or four.

It’s a round platform with an arm-mounted camera that spins around and records in two directions, then plays back in slow motion, with custom overlays and branding available. Guests get instant digital access afterward. It comes with a full-time attendant, props, lighting, a red carpet, and stanchions for a VIP feel. Ideally up to about five people at a time, depending on their size, though we try not to push it that high.

Yes. Booking only requires the base package. The best add-on decisions usually come out of getting to know you during the planning process rather than the first conversation, so it’s common, and expected, to add things on later.
